I grieve for my child

I grieve for my child
Even though they are not dead
And they are still alive

I grieve for my child
Even though they are not missing
Only missing from me

I grieve for my child
Because someone hates me
More than they love my child

I grieve for my child
As they are a part of me
So I will never get closure

I grieve for my child
Their smell, their touch, their voice
But most of all, their smile

I grieve for my child
Because I am human
And no one should have to endure this

I grieve for my child       
As I am their parent
And they are my child
